We are looking to rent a house from a lady. The down side is he told us that he is in the process of declaring bankruptcy. he said that his lawyer told his that he could try to rent the house out for a year and buy it back. Is there a risk into relocating in there or am I safe? Thank you

I am looking at having to file bankruptcy due to credit card debt. Can anyone give me advice???
I currently owe around ,000 in credit card debt. I can pay my regular monthly utility, etc bills, but I recently had to accept a part-time job and cannot handle the growing credit card debt I have incurred. I own my own house and owe nothing towards it and I was just investigating someone else out there who has had to file bankruptcy that can lend me some self advice on the process and what to do or not do. I’ve also heard of filing on my own instead of using a lawyer to avoid the high fees. Has anyone done this also? Your help may be much appreciated!

How does it work when you file for bankruptcy?
I know the laws have changed in the past year or so. What are the pros and cons? If we currently have an auto loan, would we have to surrender the vehicle?

How does Storehouse filing bankruptcy effect money I owe them.?
Storehouse’s parent, The Rowe Cos., filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection last week, some Storehouse locations are being closed.
I am set to pay them 00 dollars (1/31/06) for a piece of furniture I bought from them with his credit card (12 months no interest).
The credit card is through a 3rd party…HSBC Retail Services.

Company filed bankruptcy – do my unpaid invoices qualify for some tax breaks?
I was doing a bit of contract labor for a company who filed bankruptcy October 31st, 2008. Unfortunately, I have roughly ,000 of unpaid invoices for services I provided to this company. Obviously, I may try and collect on these invoices using the bankruptcy courts proof of claim form (but understand that I may probably never see the $$).
Can I claim these losses on my income taxes?
Help smart people!
Thanks!
I appreciate the feedback!I am already described as a creditor on the bankruptcy filing. Although, I do understand that the chances of me being paid are slim…
Long story short, I don’t really own my own business – I am a former employee who returned to work for this company on an hourly basis. (And yes, there were no taxes witheld from some of the invoices paid to me – so I may not owe taxes on the money for which I was unpaid.)
Just to clarify, I have roughly ,000 worth of travel / lodging / rental car expenses that were built into those unpaid invoices – should I be willing and able to deduct those expenses from my taxes?
Thanks an unbelievable for your help! Obviously, I may never work as a contract employee again – lesson learned the hard way!

Should I use the same lawyer for filing a second Bankruptcy??
I may have to file Bankruptcy (chapter 7) for a second time this year. I wanted to know if it’s okay to use the same lawyer I used for the first BK. Does it matter if you use the same lawyer twice for a second BK? Would it raise a Red Flag or should I be safe and use a different lawyer?
I had to file a BK in 2000 because of my ex-husband. I was lied to and misled on a home purchase for someone else which I now owe over 100K. Perhaps, people should not JUDGE others since they do not know some the details. If people have nothing positive and/or helpful to say, they should not say anything.
Yes, I know some about the new BK laws. And sorry if I confused anyone when I said a second time this year. I just meant the second time I’d have to file would be this year. I just wanted to know if it’s wise to use the same lawyer. I did read some where (don’t remember where) that you should not use the same lawyer if you have to file BK a second time. -
Landlords… how may a bankruptcy affect your decision to rent to someone?
Would you rent to someone who has filed bankruptcy? What would your concerns be and what is an acceptable reason for someone to have filed in your eyes?

How do I file for bankruptcy?
I’m way behind on credit cards and I’m in collections for some. There is no way I may be willing and able to catch up and the minimum payments and fees are too high. I couldn’t pay my rent some more, the utilities, and get my car fixed up ,and pay credits cards so now I had to move in with my in-laws. Bankruptcy is the merely way I can get back on my feet. My fiance lost his job and we’re really struggling.
