If I lived in Arizona and filed bankruptcy, Would that be a cause to be denied the right to purchase a gun at a gunshow?
I guess I should have phrased it… Do you think the current Government may piggyback that into a bill to make it more difficult for people to buy guns legally?

Can a bankruptcy prevent me from being able to buy a hunting rifle in the future?

u owe me money but you have money you can use to pay me or use it on yourself i dont think it has anything to do with you not being able to buy a gun unless your making deals and signing contracts and making bills to buy a gun i dont think so to make it easyer either spend the paycheck on your debt or spend it on a candy bar nothings stoping you

Short answer? No.
Long answer? NO… The right to buy a gun is dependant on your criminal record, and whatever courses your state might require you to take. By technicality, the only time when your financial abilities affect your right to bear arms (that I know of) is with certain licenses or permits.. some licenses require you put your address, and if you’re homeless, you don’t have an address to put down now do you?
I fail to see any reason why you would be denied for bankruptcy.

The US Bankruptcty Court is entirely different from the criminal court system that would prohibit you from buying a firearm.
I don’t see how the US Goverment could possibly even try to comingle any new bankruptcy legislation with ATF rules and regulations and prevent someone from trying to purchase a firearm through legal channels.

I doubt it, you are dealing with two very different sets of laws and regulations. Not that I would put it past the anti-gunners, but I think that there would be too many obstacles. Bankruptcy doesn’t prevent you from ever spending money again, especially spending money in a constitutionally protected way. They won’t stop you from donating to a church or political campaign either.

NO!

I wouldn’t be surprised if the Demon-crats tried it. Hell, it might even be stuck somewhere in that "health care" cluster-buck bill.
That’s why somebody once said, "The government which is big enough to give you everything you want, is big enough to take everything you have."
Disarmament is slavery.

no only convicted felons and folks convicted of domestic violence can’t buy guns
sorry to hear about the bankruptcy times are tough all around.

If your are buying cash I don’t see how it would effect buying a gun or hunting. But on the other hand who knows what the current Government has planed for us.A good example is health care if you don’t want the new so called free health care you pay for it anyway and pay for your own.I think a lot of people do not understand the word free.We no longer live in a Free country just like Free health care cost $1500.If the gun control law HR45 passes it will be hard for people to own guns and go hunting.

Knowing all the crap the current government puts in bills, It wouldn’t surprise me. But, they will still have to catch hell from the NRA and GOA with law suits and then gun owners during the next election. If there are about 80,000,000 REGISTERED guns in the US (which is the current estimate) plus all of the non-registered guns, there are a lot of gun owners who would vote out a lot of people. After the 1994 "assault weapons ban", a lot of people in the house and senate lost their seats.

They might try anything, but that one would be a stretch indeed.
According to our present Government NOBODY is to be held responsible
for their financial mistakes. The responsible ones simply pay for them through inflation.
It appears the only punishable mistake was to try to save dollars.

There is no credit check involved in purchasing a firearm.
There would be an absolute rebellion if they tried to piggyback it.
There are going to us international treaties to do it instead.

Bankruptcy is a civil procedure, not a criminal one. There is no bar to your purchasing a rifle, shotgun, or handgun from a gunshow, private dealer, or FFL dealer.

no…as long as you have money to give the guy. filing for bankruptcy isn’t a crime

Not as long as you pay upfront for your rifle because I doubt they’ll be willing to put you on a payment plan.

A bankruptcy can affect your ability to get a home, car, student, or personal loan, it does not apply to firearms. What can affect your ability to own a firearm is previous felony conviction or a violent misdemeanor.
